Members
Our members
Members of Academia Europaea, known as MAEs, are elected on academic distinction. We now have almost 4000 members worldwide, including more than 70 Nobel laureates. Membership is open to the best scientists and scholars from anywhere in the world.
The nomination process
Election to membership is an honour and recognition, at the European level, of excellence and impact in science and scholarship. Candidates must be nominated (proposed) by two existing members and one of these must work in another country. Evaluation of the qualifications of a nominated candidate is conducted by the appropriate section and, finally, class committee. If successful, invitation to membership follows. Questions about nomination and membership can be addressed to AECardiffHub@cardiff.ac.uk
