Our advocacy work includes:
Advocating for openness and transparency in science
We promote open science, research integrity, and transparency as key principles of credible and impactful research. By promoting open-access publishing, data sharing, and ethical research practices, we contribute to a more inclusive and trustworthy scientific landscape.
Supporting Early-Career Researchers
We provide opportunities for early-career researchers to connect with experienced experts. Our webinars, events and briefing series cover important topics such as research integrity, offering guidance and support for those navigating the early stages of their careers.
Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration
Our Interview Spotlight Series features discussions with leading researchers from different disciplines, offering insights into key research topics and societal challenges. These interviews serve as a resource for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and inspiring innovative approaches to complex problems. Through our work in the Scientific Advice Mechanism, we support an interdisciplinary approach to science for policy.
Promoting gender equity in academia
We are committed to improving gender equality in academic and scientific communities. Through participation in initiatives like the CALIPER project, we work to address gender imbalances in STEM fields. Our efforts include organising events, workshops, and interviews that highlight the achievements of women in science and explore ways to create more inclusive environments.
Supporting Ukraine
We stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Through our Interview series we share experiences of leading scientists and scholars living and working in Ukraine.
Engaging the public with science
Public engagement plays an important role in building trust in science. We organise interactive events and workshops to enhance science communication and encourage dialogue between researchers and the wider community, supporting informed decision-making.
Promoting best practice in science for policy
As part of the SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) consortium, we are an integral part of the European Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM), which provides independent scientific evidence and policy recommendations to the European Commission. We coordinate evidence reviews and synthesise research to help address key issues such as climate change, public health, and sustainability.
