About the Szeged Scientists Academy

The Szeged Scientists Academy is the brainchild of Professor Peter Hegyi MAE and aims to attract the brightest school leavers from all over Hungary to consider a scientific career. It supports High School science teachers and provides resources for selected schools to create science laboratories and then brings the most talented students to meetings in Szeged where they interact with established scientists. The only language used on these occasions is English.

Ole Petersen said:

“It was great to meet so many excellent students speaking fluent English and I was also impressed by the enthusiasm and engagement from university staff and high school teachers for the programme. Peter Hegyi has created a really unique educational programme, which will benefit a large number of individuals and indeed also the whole of Hungary’s future research base. This is a visionary achievement. For me, it was a great honour to participate in this programme.”
