Cardiff Hub Manager receives AE President’s Merit Award

AE Cardiff’s Hub Manager, Louise Edwards, has received the President’s Merit Award in recognition of significant personal service to the Academia Europaea.

Louise Edwards was awarded the prize by Professor Sierd Cloetingh, President of Academia Europaea, in December 2021. The President’s Merit Award, a new award for the Academia Europaea, is a personal gift from the President. It recognises the service and contribution that an individual has made to support AE. Professor Cloetingh said,

“This is awarded as a mark of recognition for Louise’s wonderful and selfless service to the Academia over many years, and for making the difference to our role in the Scientific Advice Mechanism for the European Commission.”

Since joining the AE Cardiff Knowledge Hub in 2016, Louise has driven forward Academia Europaea’s work on science advice for policy. Through the SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) consortium, she has led on three major SAPEA evidence review reports for the European Commission.

On receiving the award, Louise said,

“I am deeply honoured to receive the President’s Merit Award. My sincerest thanks go to my esteemed colleagues, Professor Ole Petersen and Juliet Davies.”

Many congratulations to Louise from all at the Cardiff Hub on this very well deserved award.
