AE members among British Academy prize and medal winners


The British Academy has announced its annual prize and medal winners, celebrating distinguished academics in the SHAPE disciplines. Among this year’s cohort, the accomplishments of two members of Academia Europaea have been recognised.

On 5th September, the British Academy announced the scholars recognised for their outstanding contributions to SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts for People and the Economy) research. Eva Hajicova MAE and Bonnie Blackburn MAE were among those whose accomplishments have garnered well-deserved recognition.

Eva Hajicova, Professor of Linguistics at Charles University, Prague, has been awarded the Neil and Saras Smith Medal for “a lifetime of achievement in the field of linguistics to for her work in theoretical, computational and corpus linguistics, with a focus on semantics and discourse structure”. Professor Hajicova was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2000.

Bonnie Blackburn has been awarded the Serena Medal in recognition of her “outstanding scholarship on Renaissance music with a particular focus on Italy”. Professor Blackburn was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2010.
