Scientific integrity, public policy and better regulation

Academia Europaea and the Cardiff Hub were active participants in the European Risk Forum Conference on Scientific integrity, public policy and better regulation, as part of our work on science advice for policy-making (the SAPEA project).   The meeting took place in Brussels on 20th February.

Academia Europaea President, Professor Sierd Cloetingh, represented SAPEA as a panelist and gave a presentation on SAPEA’s robust quality assurance processes in providing evidence reviews for policy-making, as part of the European Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM).  He worked closely alongside Louise Edwards, the Cardiff Hub Manager, on delivering key messages about SAPEA’s Guidelines on Advising Policymakers & Procedures for Quality Assurance of Scientific Advice.  Professor Ole Petersen was a member of the Working Group that developed the Guidelines.
