Food from the Oceans presented at Blue Innovation event in Brussels

The Food from the Oceans Evidence Review Report and Scientific Opinion were discussed during the Blue innovation: Oceans to Feed the Planet Roundtable. The event took place on 27th February 2018 in Brussels and was organised by the Science Business Network, a highly prestigious European think-tank.

Prof Pearl Dykstra, Deputy Chair, Scientific Advice Mechanism High Level Group, introduced the Scientific Opinion. Prof Poul Holm  (Trinity College Dublin), Working Group Chair, presented the Evidence Review Report produced by SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies). Prof Yngvar Olsen (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), and Prof Maarten Bavinck (University of Amsterdam), both working group members, also contributed to the debate.

The AE Cardiff Hub oversaw the compilation of the Evidence Review Report Food from the Oceans, which examines the question of how the ocean can help satisfy the global demand for food.  Handover to the European Commission took place on 29th November, in Brussels.
