AE Cardiff Hub promotes its work at UKRI GCRF Event on Food Systems and Resilience

On 26th March, the AE Cardiff Hub contributed to a UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) – GCRF (Global Challenges Research Fund) Regional Event on Food Systems and Resilience, organised by Cardiff University’s Research and Innovation Services Team. This was one of a series of events, for the UKRI to provide an update on live and upcoming ODA (Official Development Assistance) calls/activities, and to discuss key topics.

The event took place in the Hadyn Ellis Building, home to the AE Cardiff Hub

The Cardiff Hub was represented at the event by Hub Manager, Louise Edwards and Executive Officer (Projects) Esther Dorado-Ladera. Of particular interest was the presentation by Professor Nicola Lowe, GCRF Challenge Leader on Food Systems, who introduced the different components of the topic, i.e. policy, production, processing, distribution, consumption and waste. Her talk was followed by a lively discussion, which included issues such as the difficulty to evaluate impact and to bridge the gap between research and evidence useful to policymakers.

The AE Cardiff Hub hosted a stand showcasing SAPEA projects, including our work on Food from the Oceans, Making Sense of Science and the most recent topic Sustainable Food Systems.

27th March 2019. For further information please contact Esther Dorado-Ladera, Executive Officer (Projects)  DoradoLaderaE@cardiff@cardiff.ac.uk
