About the Steering Group

The Steering Group plays an important role in shaping the Hub’s future priorities and activities. Four meetings have taken place since the Hub opened in 2016. The next Steering Group meeting, on 16th September, is scheduled to dovetail with an exciting international webinar on the topic of Science Advice – What works in a Crisis? The webinar has been co-organised by AE Cardiff with Science Advice for Policy by European academies (SAPEA), the Joint Research Centre and the SAM Unit.

Science Advice – What works in a Crisis?

In this 90-minute webinar, chief science advisers, experts and staff of the European Commission will reflect on how effectively Europe is rising to the challenge and what lessons can be learned for the future. They will share practical experiences of giving science advice in the face of unprecedented complexity, uncertainty and public visibility during the outbreak; as well as how best to apply science advice frameworks and practices to secure greater resilience in the aftermath of Covid-19. The webinar is chaired by AE Cardiff Hub Academic Director Professor Ole Petersen and the discussant is Sir Mark Walport.

The webinar is part of the INGSA Global Week of Dialogue entitled ‘Science Advice & COVID-19: What are we learning?’ which takes place from 14th to 18th of September 2020.

26th August 2020. For further information please contact AECardiffHub@cardiff.ac.uk
